Project overview

The BankTech web app gives business clients access to banking services like payment collections, contract management and customer verifications. For this project we had to redesign and rebuild a legacy version of the platform in a few weeks for a new client. The new web app had positive business impact with new clients being migrated from the legacy platform as its functionality and features were expanded.

Problem statement

The legacy version of the platform was bloated and difficult to support. The new console was built from scratch to create a lean, scalable solution in React. The original build of the platform was pieced together by a handful of developers using various libraries, services and components. It was laborious to maintain and the bulk of its features were found to be ignored by platform users. The purpose of the new console was to create a lean, scalable and user-friendly platform in React.

Dashboard redesign

Based on wireframes from the product manager I designed the dashboard as the first UI view of the console using Adobe Illustrator and XD. With only two panels in the main window the new dashboard was much cleaner and easier to navigate than the legacy version. The interactive bar graph and KPI data tiles enabled quick data analysis and insights.

Data table redesign

I designed a new data table interface and optimised the payment collections workflow through iterative design. Improvements to the original design included a consolidated menu bar with grouped relevant actions and a simplified tab menu to make it easy to switch between collections in their various states. Another value add was count and value totals for selected and/or filtered rows to make user calculations automatic.

Project outcomes

The BankTech web app was launched successfully with clients migrated from the legacy version. A major national client has seen positive business impact and soon had twice the amount of agents on the platform than initially. We were successful in our goal of creating an intuitive, streamlined web experience for creating and managing payment collections.
